Deeson is a digital agency that designs and builds high profile, high stakes transformational web platforms.

Our multi-disciplinary agile teams have delivered open source platforms including public-facing websites, intranets, data platforms, business systems and system integrations for some of the biggest brands in the UK.

Our clients include Johnson & Johnson, ITV, BDO, Robbie Williams, the Royal Collection Trust, the Imperial War Museum, and the National Crime Agency.

We’ve worked hard to create a supportive and challenging workplace at Deeson, where team members have a high degree of ownership and are responsible for defining the ways of working that help them do their best work. Over the past two years our creative work has improved significantly. We’re now delivering high quality design work as part of delightful engaging digital experiences.

Deeson is part of The Panoply - a group of companies that work collaboratively with clients to solve complex business problems. Our sister agencies include Manifesto, Notbinary and FutureGov.

This role is available as full-time or 0.8FTE (28 hours per week).

Who we’re looking for

Our approach to digital user needs at the heart of decision making. User research is a core part of the work of our multi-disciplinary agile teams. We work with our clients to build a deep understanding of their users so they can design and deliver platforms that their users need.

As a user researcher at Deeson you will be experienced in using a variety of user research methods to reveal actionable insights. You will have excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to quickly develop recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative evidence.

You will need to be confident in explaining user needs to senior clients, and acting as a persuasive advocate for those needs both within project teams, client organisations and within Deeson.

You will have experience with and be comfortable working with agile development teams. You will be able to introduce user research practices into a team, establish a user centred culture, and continually monitor and improve practices.

Our ideal candidate would have:

  • Demonstrable knowledge, experience in and passion for user centered design practices for web, service or software development.
  • Proven experience of understanding user needs for web content, tools and transactional services, especially those with the most complex user journeys.
  • Proven experience of designing, facilitating and analysing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative user research methods.
  • Strong understanding of strengths and limitations of different research methods.
  • Proven experience of presenting user research findings in a wide variety of formats and contexts.
  • Proven experience introducing and establishing user research practices in an organisation.
  • Proven experience of working in an agile development environment with designers and developers.
